Suffering from an afternoon dip? These tips can help

Everyone suffers from an energy dip in the afternoon. You know, the kind where you’d rather just stop and go home for the day. It’s sadly not an option, so instead, try these tips to get back on track!

  1. Lunch

It’s possible that your lunch contains too many carbohydrates, causing you to suffer from an energy dip later in the afternoon. A good lunch consists of healthy fats, vegetables, and proteins. In addition, it’s important to drink enough water, because dehydration can also lead to fatigue.

2. Rhythm

It can help to keep your work tasks in sync with your biological rhythm. For example, it’s very normal to have an energy dip between noon and 3 p.m. Therefore, plan your important tasks before noon or after 3 p.m. By taking into account your energy peaks and troughs, you’ll get more work done and you can also take it easy when you feel fatigued.

3. Rest

Sometimes you experience a dip, which you know that even the strongest cup of coffee won’t help fix. It’s better to take a moment of rest. If possible, a 20-minute nap is recommended. Research shows that such a nap ensures that both your memory and your performance will improve later in the day.

4. Surroundings

If you’re experiencing an energy dip, changing your environment can help. Escape from the office and take a short walk or sacrifice yourself to get fresh coffee for your colleagues. A walk of about ten minutes can increase your productivity in the afternoon.
