These houseplants hardly need any water

These plants are perfect for people with a busy lifestyle. And also for people with little experience in plant care. With their beautiful appearance and minimal need for water, they’ll effortlessly brighten up your interior!

  1. Sansevieria (Women’s Tongue)

First, we have the Sansevieria, better known as the Lady’s/Women’sTongue. This plant gets its name from its long, pointed leaves. In the summer, a sip of water once every two weeks is more than enough and in the winter once every six weeks is sufficient.

2. Zamioculcas (ZZ Plant)

Then the Zamioculcas, also called the ZZ plant. Even if you forget to water it for weeks, it won’t die. In fact, it flourishes in drought. If you water it too often, the leaves will turn yellow. Upside-down world, right?

3. Succulents

Succulents are like camels among plants. They store water in their fleshy leaves and can go months without a drop. Give it a splash of water every now and then and it’ll have enough in storage, and you won’t have to worry about it.

4. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera isn’t only easy to maintain because it hardly needs water. But the plant also has healing properties. For example, you can treat wounds with it. Are you burned? Smear some of the juice on the red spots for cooling. A win-win, right?

5. Cacti

No list is complete without the indestructible cacti. Like succulents, they can store water and survive long periods of drought. In the summer they need just a little more water, with the emphasis on ‘just’.

6. Dracaena

Last but not least, the dracaena. This plant also hardly needs water. In addition, it’s also tolerant of low light levels. You only water it when the potting soil feels dry to the touch. In the summer that will be slightly more often (say once every three weeks) than in the winter.
