Tips & Tricks

This is the best way to keep your house clean if you have pets

No matter how much you love your four-legged friend, they’re still capable of making a mess. For example, when they walk through the house with their dirty paws, shed an incredible amount of hair, or make a mess destroying toilet paper. As someone who has a pet, you’re often busy cleaning and can use some useful tips to keep your house clean!

  1. Latex gloves

When your pet loses a lot of hair, it can be very annoying to clean up. Especially when you have fabric furniture that those hairs stick to. A golden tip for anyone with pets is to use latex gloves. With these gloves, you’ll get rid of those hairs in no time. Put on the gloves and rub them over your couch and chairs. The hairs stick to the gloves and then you can easily dispose of them.

2. Shaving foam

It may sound crazy, but as someone who has a pet, it’s useful to add a can of shaving cream to your cleaning collection. And believe me: this one will come in handy. When your dog vomits or your cat peed on your rug, it can cause annoying stains. Spray a little shaving cream on the spot, leave it on for a short amount of time, and wipe it off with warm water.

3. Skewer with cleaning wipes

Hair and dirt can easily accumulate in small corners that are difficult to reach. But there’s an easy trick for this. All you need is a pack of moist cleaning wipes and a skewer. Wrap the skewer with some cleaning cloths so that you can easily clean the smallest nooks and crannies.

4. Blankets on the couch

Do you like to lie on the couch underneath a blanket? Then you probably know that it gets way dirtier when you have pets. Some materials, such as wool, can be annoying because you cannot easily wash them. It’s therefore wise to choose materials that you can clean easily. Consider, for example, a rug made of 100 percent cotton or a mixture of acrylic and cotton. This can take a beating and is suitable to throw in a washing machine.

5. Clean paws

After a walk, your dog often has a lot of dirt on his paws. To remove the first bit of dirt, it’s useful to purchase a doormat. You can also make it a habit to always clean your four-legged friend’s legs with a wet cloth when you walk in. For example, hang an old towel next to the door so that you always have something to clean the legs with.

6. Clean their toys etc.

Your pet’s belongings, such as a basket, toys, and even the dog leash can give off a nasty smell. That’s why it’s important to regularly clean these items. First, check whether they can be put in the washing machine. Otherwise, you can hand wash them in the sink. Save this chore for a sunny day so things can dry outside.
