Concert

9 November 2022: The Chainsmokers concert

I know, this doesn’t seem like my typical concert, but I do like this duo quite a lot. It’s in fact almost the only thing I listen to when it comes to their musical genre. In any case, I bought tickets for their concert on November 8, 2019, and after 5 reschedules, it finally happened!

The concert took place at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. The concert was sold out, but I luckily bought a seat. I was truly glad I had because my train was cancelled due to a swan being stuck, causing the trains to not ride. Luckily, I was still on time but missed both support acts. Or well, most of the second. I wasn’t upset by that, because the support act I did see a bit of, wasn’t that good anyway. Anyway, my sight was pretty okay-ish. I sat in the first row of the area, but it was still pretty far away. They had screens on either side but didn’t use them until after about 1 hour.

They did 3 of my favourite songs, so I was smiling like crazy throughout those. I did know every song they did, and the older ladies next to me did as well. And when Drew took off his shirt for one song, you should’ve seen the look on their faces. I swear they must have teenage daughters at home or something. Anyway, the setlist isn’t in the correct order, but this was the only complete one I found on the internet.

  • High
  • Everybody Hates Me
  • Paris
  • Takeaway
  • Roses/Teenage Dirtbag
  • Hope
  • Don’t Let Me Down
  • Save Yourself
  • Sick Boy
  • Who Do You Love
  • Testing
  • Riptide
  • If You’re Serious
  • Something Just Like This
  • New York City
  • iPad
  • Closer

I admit, Drew did sing a lot better live than I heard him sing a couple of years back. But, you could clearly hear he was using a microphone with a filter added to it to make him sound like he does on the recordings. It’s a bit of a bummer that he has to use that in order to sound pleasant to listen to. But he has the looks, that definitely made it acceptable. Either way, it was quite a lovely addition that they had a drummer now and that they remixed their own songs, even throwing in remixes of classics. Alex did, as always, most of the DJing as Drew is the singer, but Drew did jump around, on, and off the stage they had built, joining in every now and then when he wasn’t obliged to sing. And damn, Drew definitely has stamina. He jumped off so high, I thought he’d certainly break his ankles, but he seemed fine. I did enjoy myself, despite the lights being a bit too flashy this time for my liking. It was my last big concert of the year as well, so it definitely was a good banger to end with! (I do have one more concert left, but it’s a small one that I won’t share, in December).

Love, Skye Lewis ❤
