Strong and healthy hair and nails: who doesn’t want that? It’s very annoying if and when they break off quickly. Fortunately, there are a number of foods you can eat to strengthen your hair and nails!
- Biotin (Vitamin B8)
Let’s start with an important vitamin for your hair and nails: biotin. This vitamin (also called vitamin B8 or H) is what your body needs to release energy from food. It helps in the production of fatty acids and plays an important role in your nervous system. Biotin is also involved in the production of keratin, a building material (protein) for your nails and hair. It’s, therefore, important to get enough of this vitamin. The best way to do this is through food.
2. Almonds
Are you a lover of almonds? Then you’re in luck because they’re full of biotin. Combine them with other biotin-rich foods such as oats for breakfast.
3. Sweet potato
Sweet potato also contains a lot of biotins, which are good for your hair and nails. A slice contains about eight micrograms of biotin and a sweet potato is also full of other vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, copper, and fiber.

4. Eggs
Eggs are a great addition to your diet when it comes to getting biotin. And especially the egg yolks are full of them.
5. Tomatoes
Tomatoes are of course very healthy, but from now on you prefer to put them in every dish. There’s a lot of biotin in tomatoes, so you can easily get a lot of it.
6. Carrots
Carrots also contain biotin, but they have even more benefits for your hair and nails. They promote blood circulation, which is good for your hair and nails, as well as for your skin.
7. Other memorable mentions
Other foods that are good for your hair and nails include:
- Peanuts
- Oats
- Onions
- Organ meats
- Salmon

I would like to add
Amla(Indian gooseberry) and custard apple are good for hair as well. I’m mentioning these 2 specifically as these are available in the market these days(well atleast in India).
Keep smiling 😁
