Favourite of the month #75

Because of my love for music, I want to share my favourites. So, the way this works: I’ll share 5 songs I like from this artist/band. And I give a small background story of the artist/band!

This month: Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy is an American rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band originated from Chicago’s hardcore punk scene, with which all members were involved at one point. The group was formed by Wentz and Trohman as a pop-punk side project of the members’ respective hardcore bands, and Stump joined shortly thereafter.

The group went through a succession of drummers before landing Hurley and recording the group’s debut album, Take This to Your Grave (2003). The album became an underground success and helped the band gain a dedicated fanbase through heavy touring, as well as commercial success. Take This to Your Grave has commonly been cited as an influential blueprint for pop-punk music in the 2000s.

The band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, lead guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley.

In 2017, Fall Out Boy were announced as the first winners of Rock Sound’s Hall of Fame Award as part of the Rock Sound Awards. In an interview accompanying the band’s win, Patrick Stump stated one reason for the band’s success is Sugar, We’re Goin Down. In 2009, Phoenix New Times writer Martin Cizmar had described Sugar, We’re Goin Down as possibly “the most listened-to emo track of all time”.

This is my top 5 of their songs!

  1. Sugar, We’re Goin Down

2. Centuries

3. Thnks fr th Mmrs

4. The Phoenix

5. I Don’t Care

What’s your opinion about them?

Love, Skye Lewis ❤
