Things that instantly help you feel happier

Sometimes you’re just in a very bad mood and have an awful day. Everything seems to go wrong. Try these things to instantly feel a little happier!

  1. Scented candle

Did you know that scents can have a positive effect on your mood? For example, it has been proven that a citrus scent gives a positive feeling. Lie down on the couch and light your favourite scented candle.

2. Nap

Need a good excuse to take an afternoon nap? There are many studies that show that taking a nap regularly improves your mood. The best nap is about twenty minutes. This allows you to recharge for a while, but you won’t fall into a deep sleep yet.

3. Meditate

If you’re new to meditation, this is definitely worth a try. Meditating briefly daily would increase your concentration and memory. In addition, you can better regulate your emotions and your mood improves.

4. Go outside

Going outside when the sun is shining ensures that your body produces more vitamin D and serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter also known as the happiness hormone. The production of serotonin and vitamin D will make you feel calmer and happier. It’s important to protect your skin against the sun though!

5. Music

There are bound to be some songs that’ll always make you feel happy. Perhaps a song will bring back a certain positive memory. Don’t forget to move to the music. By exercising, your body also produces anti-stress hormones.
