Concert

14 May 2022: Normandie concert

I’ve known this band since 2019, and I bought tickets for their show in 2020, which of course got postponed to 2021, and so on. But it finally went through, and I’m gonna write my concert review about that today!

They performed in Dynamo in Eindhoven, in what they claim as the ‘bigger venue.’ Honestly, despite it being called Main Stage, there wasn’t enough space for everyone attending. Despite me being in the middle of mosh pit after mosh pit, I still enjoyed myself whilst headbanging and just filming tidbits. But let’s look at some other stuff first before I enlighten myself on that topic.

They had two support acts called Our Hollow, Our Home, and Led By Lanterns. I haven’t seen either of them. I arrived around 8.30 p.m. and went to check out the merch stand first. Because I saw a long sleeve shirt with a blue skull and it called out to me. I had to have it! I also bought their cd, with autographs. Anyway, when the second support act was done playing, I went inside and tried to find a spot to enjoy the concert. Might not have picked the best spot. I’ll get to that in a sec.

They performed 15 songs for us that night.

  • Babylon
  • Jericho
  • Ecstacy
  • Awakening
  • Mission Control
  • Holy Water
  • Dead
  • Fight
  • Renegade
  • Bury Me Alive
  • Atmosphere
  • Collide
  • Thrown in the Gutter
  • Hostage
  • White Flag

They were pretty amazing live! The two playing guitars were literally doing such an amazing job. Anyway, I haven’t enjoyed myself as much as I could’ve. It was a bit too much pushing and pulling in terms of mosh pits, and they did lots and lots of crowd surfing, which made you have to duck occasionally. And it was kinda annoying that they also began throwing beer around. Not the best experience, but I still enjoyed the music and the overall performance of the band. Then again, they were also kinda instigating the audience’s behaviour. Oh well, no one got (seriously) injured. They were all quick to react when three people fell to the ground. And that did warm my heart. We never let anyone behind on the ground, we always pick everyone right back up. They performed for about 2 hours, ending 30 minutes earlier than planned.
