How to save money on fuel prices? Let me tell you how!

Due to the war in Ukraine, fuel prices have risen significantly. That’s why it’s good to know how you can save on your gas costs. Better safe than sorry!

  1. Change driving style

First of all, you can save on fuel by adjusting your driving style. Make sure that you don’t accelerate too hard after standing still and that don’t brake too abruptly. Switching to a higher gear quickly is also a smart thing to do.

2. Start-stop system

This system ensures that the engine is switched off when you’re in a traffic jam or at a traffic light. Don’t have such a system? Then turn off the engine yourself at these times. Can you choose driving modes, for example, comfort, sport, and eco? Then choose eco. This lowers your throttle response and allows for early shifting when it’s automatic.

3. Drive slower

Not nice if you’re in a hurry, but very effective. Because the faster you drive, the more fuel you use. That’s why you should stick to the speed limits. In addition, it works to drive at a constant speed. If you have cruise control, it’s smart to use it.

4. Check tire pressure

Driving with under-inflated tires can cause you to use 3 to 5% more fuel. Check the correct tire pressure in the information booklet of your car or on the inside of your fuel filler flap.

5. Get rid of stuff

By this I mean, for example, roof racks, roof boxes, and bicycle carriers. These are real wind catchers. It’s also more aerodynamic and therefore more economical to drive with the windows closed.

6. Not too much stuff

The less stuff there is in your car, the less hard your engine has to work. So don’t use your trunk too fanatically as a storage place.

7. Turn off power consumers

This one is obvious, but it’s important. Don’t leave systems such as the heating, air conditioning, or fan on unnecessarily.

8. Fill your tank as cheap as possible

The gas stations with the lowest prices are often located in industrial areas and office districts. Refueling along the highway is often a lot more expensive.
