They always say money buys happiness. Once you’ve spent it, you often walk around with a feeling of guilt. Because you spend just a little too much money than you intended. So I have some tips for you so you can avoid that!
- Make a budget
I know it’s super boring, but you keep an overview of your income and expenses. Because once you know how much money you spend on certain things, you’ll see that many things were actually quite useless in terms of purchase. Now you can adjust your shopping behavior and save money!
2. Saving goal
For example, do you want to make a long journey or buy a game console? When you set a goal, you’ll motivate yourself to actually start saving and spend less money on nonsense things!
3. Monthly savings
Everyone knows the expression: money has to roll. So we prefer to spend it immediately after we receive our wages. And that makes it so difficult to save! But if you transfer a certain amount to your savings account every month, you will do that more and more often!
4. Keep your change
We all pay with debit card nowadays. But if you look around you, how much change is there in your house? Check your couch, bags and pockets. I bet you will find more! So buy a piggy bank, put all that change in it and see the result at the end of the year! You can probably buy something nice with that.
5. Own lunch
The food in the canteen looks super tasty, but it’s also incredibly expensive. Still, it’s better to bring your own lunch. Your own food is much healthier, more varied and you’re in control of what you eat. And also about the costs!
I know you get excited about that one jacket, but don’t do it! I know being patient is really hard, but you’ll see it go on sale in a few weeks. And when you buy it, you get a lot of discount. You’re welcome!
7. Pay with cash
When you pay with your debit card, you have less overview of what you spend. You also often omit the receipts. And when you get home, you see how much money has been debited from your bank…. Not good. If you pay with cash, you can see exactly what you have to spend. And that change you get back? Put that in that piggy bank!
