Because of my love for music, I want to share my favourites. My last post was not too long ago, but I’ve discovered a new band! So, the way this works: I’ll share 5 songs I like from this artist/band. And I give a small background story of the artist/band!

This month: Green Day

Green Day is an American rock band formed in the East Bay of California in 1987 by Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt.

The band consists of:

• Vocals and guitar: Billie Joe Armstrong
• Bass guitar: Mike Dirnt
• Drums: Tré Cool

Stylistically, the group is characterised as punk rock, pop punk, alternative rock, pop rock, skate punk, power pop, post-punk, and garage rock. The band’s 1992 album Kerplunk is one of the best selling independent albums of all time, selling over 4.5 million worldwide. It was also listed in 100 greatest indie albums by Blender in 2007. They have sold more than 90 million records worldwide making them one of the highest-selling artists of all time. The group has been nominated for 20 Grammy awards and has won five of them.
