I’m a born Slytherin, and have been a fan of Harry Potter ever since the first film came out. But I wondered, what would each zodiac sign be if the Sorting Hat used that to put people into houses? I say we take a look at it!
Aquarius: Ravenclaw
Aquarians are the most common sign in the House of Ravenclaw. With mutual members like the eccentric and brilliant Luna Lovegood, it’s easy to see why this is the case. Aquarians tend to be a bit eclectic, with an open mind and big thoughts. Intelligent, independent and idealistic, they’re a perfect match for Rowena Ravenclaws House.
Pisces: Hufflepuff
This sign corresponds to the house that’s often the last in people’s minds, Hufflepuff. Those with the zodiac Pisces can be challenged to fit into the Houses of Ravenclaw or even Slytherin, making it difficult for the Sorting Hat. But in the end they belong in Hufflepuff. Pisces are generous and considerate; they’re aware of the people around them and how they feel at a particular moment. This kindness fits in perfectly with Hufflepuff. Both Pisces and Hufflepuff have qualities of wisdom, compassion and generosity, proving that they’re a good match.
Aries: Gryffindor
Full of fire, full of confidence, and courage, Aries is one of the few characters that sorting into a Hogwarts House seems to have only one option. There’s no doubt that Gryffindor is the home for an Aries. A Gryffindor Aries would feel surrounded by individuals with the same toughness, fire, and outgoingness as themselves.
Taurus: Hufflepuff
Another perhaps peculiar combination, the sign most associated with Earth, is suitable for the house of the same nature, as shown by one of Hogwarts’ Bulls, Professor Sprout. The ones in the zodiac Taurus fit Hufflepuff and the common traits that define both. Both are often overlooked, and both are placed in stereotypes that can be quite misleading to those outside of Hufflepuff and Taurus. While Taurus are known for being perhaps stubborn, they fit the Hufflepuff traits of hardworking, honest, and kind.

Gemini: Slytherin
Gemini is a zodiac sign that could be associated with Ravenclaw, but they do indeed fit the Slytherin house better than any, and that’s not a bad thing. Gemini is the sign of the twins, and the duality of those below the constellation would fit well in Slytherin. Intelligent, quick-witted, and crafty, Gemini possess qualities that are celebrated in Slytherin. In addition, the duality seen in Slytherin Gemini Malfoy is a testament to how good the pairing is.
Cancer: Ravenclaw
The emotional nature of those with the zodiac Cancer, and their wisdom, particularly related to that emotion, may lead them to claim that they’re part of other homes. But the Cancer belongs in Rowena Ravenclaw’s house. The intuition, imagination, and wisdom of those with the Cancer signs fit the House well. Cancers don’t let their emotions get in the way of their decisions, and their intuition in terms of both emotion and problem solving makes them a good fit for Ravenclaw.
Leo: Gryffindor
The Leo’s animal is the lion, the same as Gryffindor, so there’s an instant connection between the House and the zodiac. In addition, the central Gryffindor of the Potter story, Harry Potter, is a Leo himself, as well as Neville and Ginny. Neville shows that it can take a while to come out of your shell and become what Harry is for almost the entire series. Strong, bold, courageous, outgoing and a leader by setting an example, but also a love of loyalty and doing the right thing.
Virgo: Ravenclaw
Virgo is arguably the most fitting constellation in the Ravenclaw house, despite arguments for their placement in Hufflepuff. The similarities between the two are undeniable, with intelligence both valued and all too often lost in their minds as a result. Hermione Granger is a Virgo, and while she was placed in Gryffindor, she was very close to becoming a Ravenclaw and possessed many of their qualities. Virgos are conscientious and are thinkers, terms that the Ravenclaw house can also relate to.

Libra: Hufflepuff
One constellation that does fall in the House of Hufflepuff is Libra. The couple has a plethora of similarities, all of which stem from a place of humble nature and kindness. Libras are charming and love balance. They look for harmony within groups, and with a group like the Hufflepuff house they fit right in. There’s no desire to show off or ruffle feathers, just to get everyone to get along.
Scorpio: Slytherin
Just as Aries is so at home in Gryffindor, Scorpios are perhaps the most associated Slytherin of all zodiac signs. Like Slytherin, Scorpios get a bad reputation for being the worst of the signs, the worst of the twelve, as is Slytherin of the Hogwarts houses. Scorpios are incredibly emotional and layered, as well as crafty and ambitious. They will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals, getting carried away with nothing but their desire.
Sagittarius: Gryffindor
Sagittarians show traits of other houses, but eventually belong in the Gryffindor House. They’re a free zodiac and they need their freedom, with nothing stopping them from achieving that freedom. Sagittarians crave adventure, which is why they’re a great fit for Gryffindor. They’re a smart zodiac but often go with their heart instead of that intelligence. Both Sagittarius and Gryffindor are brave, optimistic and adventurous, which makes them a perfect fit.
Capricorn: Slytherin
Both Capricorns and the House of Slytherin are insanely determined and ambitious to the point where it’s limitless. They don’t let anything get in the way of what they want to achieve. Ambition is perhaps the trait most associated with the Slytherin House; they’re determined and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. This is the same as Capricorns, and the values ββthe two share are unmistakable, with cunning, hard work, and moving forward, demonstrating the similarities between the sign and Slytherin.
