Series I recommend watching: Shadowhunters

I’ve watched tons of series. On Netflix, television or on DVD. In any case, I thought it’d be fun to share the series I watch and truly recommend watching. With today: Shadowhunters

I’ve always been a huge fan of Cassandra Clare’s books of all the Shadowhunter chronicles. So, when I heard there’d be a series, I started watching it right from the start. I have to admit, the very first season was really bad acted. I had a hard time getting into it because of that and moreover because they explained everything so differently than they did in the books. It was much clearer in the books in my opinion. But, halfway through season 2, it definitely got much better. And the third season is definitely the best out of them all. But, it’s of course based on the books, meaning they changed a lot. Sudden storylines are reversed with other characters, which makes it confusing for someone who literally read every single book in the series.

I have to admit, the special effects are pretty cool. I mean, when they use magic and such or their runes or eyes light up, that’s all very well done. I’ve got nothing bad to say about that. And the music choices in each episode *chefs kiss*. Their music soundtrack is honestly the best. I recently started rewatching this series again because I honestly kinda missed it, even though it definitely had its flaws. Some actors (Dominic for example) made the series good enough to keep watching, others took some time to adjust to. It felt as if they weren’t really one with their character yet, but he was. At least, it felt that way for me. And honestly: I live for Malec, Clace and Sizzy. I did dislike the ending. They sadly had to stop making the show, which forced them to create an ending that I disagree with. But, knowing there won’t be a new season, I guess it’s an okay ending. It’s just very different from the books and that takes time adjusting, also because I wanted a certain couple to just be happy after everything they’ve been through and the writers were like: yeah, let’s not.
