Interview

Interview #101 Ang

I interviewed 100 people 2 years ago, and I wanted to bring this series back. I think it’ll only be a one time thing as I only got one answer, but I’m happy to introduce this lovely person to my readers! So sit back, take a cup of tea and let’s get to know this talented, kind blogger named Ang!

1. Can you introduce yourself? (Tell something about yourself, age, a fun fact etc.)

Hi all! My name’s Ang and I run the blog Lose Weight with Ang. I’m 30 years old and I work fulltime as an aircraft maintenance engineer in Halifax, Canada. I’m a bit of a side hustle hoarder. Aside from my blog I also day trade and deliver for Instacart to bring in money. It requires a lot of multi-tasking, but I put aside time each day to work at all of them.

2. What’s the reason behind the start of your blog?

I began blogging because I couldn’t find a blog to inspire me to lose weight which also answered the many questions I had about weight loss. I really want to know the nitty-gritty about what happens to your body when you lose a large amount of weight. In total, I had 50 pounds to lose, and was curious about how my skin would look, how I would feel, struggles I would face, etc. I started Lose Weight with Ang to answer these questions for everyone else, and encourage them to achieve their goals too.

3. How did you come up with the name of your blog? What does it stand for?

The name Lose Weight with Ang is a pretty simple concept. If you’re following me, you’ll be joining me on my weight loss journey as well. Of course, you don’t need to be losing weight to follow my blog. I’m happy to inspire people in any aspect of their lives. 🙂

4. What do you write about?

My blog isn’t only about weight loss. I’m very determined to share posts about eating disorders and mental health to spread awareness. I try to write a little bit for everyone regarding health and fitness. I also occasionally post recipes, articles, and inspiration!

5. If you have to name one thing, what’s the most fun thing about it? (Blogging)

Honestly, I’ve loved how much I’ve learned since starting to blog. Researching topics to write about has made me much more knowledgeable about everything my blog covers. Also, talking with other bloggers has really increased my scope in regards to understanding people from different parts of the world. Lastly, I knew nothing about creating and running websites when I began. Now I can say I know maybe one or 2 things (lol).

6. What have you achieved so far, but would you never have dreamed of? (When it comes to blogging)

As of today, I’ve written and posted 22 blog posts on my site. I know that’s not much compared to other bloggers, but I only have time to post once a week. But, some of those posts have over 1000 words. That’s a LOT of writing! I never thought of myself as a writer, so that is pretty unbelievable.

7. What are your goals for this year? (With your blog)

Mainly, my goals are about consistent growth. I want to stick to what I’m doing and slowly see progress. I know it will be unrealistic to try to pump out more posts each week or try to get 30,000 pageviews a month. I don’t have time to make that happen. But getting out one quality post a week and improving on my writing, that’s attainable. Aiming for 2000 pageviews a month is as well. I’d like to make my first bit of profit from my site also. That would be like icing on the cake.

8. What do you want to tell the readers? Any message you want to share?

For anyone trying to lose weight or reach any long-term goal, you need to think sustainable. You’re not going to get to where you’re going overnight. Make a plan that you know you’ll be able to stick with for the long run, to avoid tempting yourself to give up. Adding onto that, if you’re just starting out your blog, you need to have realistic expectations. I’ve seen so many blogs trying to sell courses claiming that you can make money overnight with very little work while blogging. This is totally untrue and blogging is a lot of hard work for little or no gain in the beginning. Unless you have a unique niche (or a lot of luck), it takes years of dedication to get your blog to where these successful full time bloggers are. That being said, don’t get discouraged! I believe that if you’re willing to put in the work, you can reach your goals and become the best version of yourself. If you want something, go get it!

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! Check out this amazing person’s website and spread some love!

Love, Deem/Skye Lewis ❤
