Game review: Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Telltale Series

I’m almost done playing this game, but couldn’t wait any longer to write a game review. I already have an opinion about it so far and since I can’t spoil, well, maybe it’s for the best if I haven’t finished it yet 😉

The Guardians of the Galaxy discover an artefact of great power and must defend it from those who want to possess it while also deciding whether to use it themselves.

I read a lot of mixed reviews about this game. And when I started playing it, I shared a few of those thoughts myself. Though, not all. For one, I do find the game extremely fun. There are some jokes in there that just make me laugh and that’s exactly what I need. And I mean, the music. It’s pretty epic!

Throughout the game, you get several parts where you get to use your jet boots. It’s kinda funny, the way you use them to fly. Though, the way to move up and down, is sometimes kinda tricky, because you have to be at certain points to do so.

During the fight scenes, you sometimes play as multiple characters fighting the enemies during the game. Currently, I’ve had the opportunity to be Rocket, Peter Quill, Gemora, Drax and Nebula. I can’t recall if I was able to play as Groot as well, but maybe that’ll happen in the episode I still need to play.

Obviously, you also need to fight during some scenes. It’s mostly following the arrow’s movements as shown above or pressing certain buttons to complete an action.

Choices do matter since you get the opportunity to determine the gameplay after episode 3. I won’t spoil of course, but it’s nice to know it’ll change the gameplay. I must say, the game itself could’ve used some more ‘work’, as many players stated. Telltale does seem to have finished it in quite a rush. Though, as I mentioned earlier, the jokes make it up to me. And it gets really interesting when episode 3 happens. After that, the game turns out so much better. Choices start to matter and you start to feel sorry for certain characters you maybe shouldn’t feel sorry for. Sure, it has its flaws, but it also has its perks.

I shall give Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Telltale Series, 3 out of 5 stars!

Have you played the game?
