Tips for when you want to start roller skating!

Roller skating is obviously super fun to do! Even more when the sun is out! You’re outside, can sunbathe a little and are working out. All winning options! Do you want to start roller skating? Then I’ve got some tips for you!

1. Lean slightly forward

It’s important to lean/bend forward, but very lightly, to keep your balance. If you’re standing too upright, you’ll risk falling backwards. And that’s not something you want to happen πŸ˜‰

2. Flat road

If you’re starting to learn how to roller skate, it’s smart for you to start on a flat road. You won’t be bothered by pebbles or bumps, to which you could fall. And if you’ve been skating for a bit longer, it might be a fun challenge to do pick a road like that!

3. Right size

It’s very important to pick the right size of roller skates. They shouldn’t be too loose, but not too tight either. They need to be precisely fitting. If you can put your finger behind your heel, while you’re wearing them, they’re a perfect fit.

4. Enough protection

Of course it doesn’t really look cool, but having bruises and grazes… That’s not cool at all, and extremely painful. So, make sure you’re wearing enough protection when you’re going for a ride!

5. Brakes

You’ve finally figured out how to properly roller skate, when you suddenly need to brake. But, you don’t know how! It can happen to anyone, so don’t worry! To prevent this, I’ll give you a quick lesson! There’s a brake pad on the end of your skeeler. So, when you’ll lower your ‘brake leg’ to the ground, the brake pad will assist in stopping you.

Have you ever been roller skating before?
