The true difference between introverts, extroverts and ambiverts

It may sound like a battle: introvert vs extrovert vs ambivert. But in all honesty, it doesn’t really matter who you are or what you are. But, I can imagine it may be nice to know! So: here we go!

Introvert, extrovert or ambivert?

Knowing which one you are, may help you to make choices that fit your personality way better. Or to understand yourself much more. Maybe even in understanding others! Don’t search for the meaning in the dictionary: they often say that introverts are ‘lone wolves, not social’, while extroverts are ‘focused on the outside world.’ But trust me, both are so much more than that. That’s why I’ll give you a long meaning, a true explanation!

Extrovert

This person is someone who’s always very social and friendly. Thanks to their social being, they’re easy and lovely to hang out with. They tell beautiful stories and are fun to talk with. This means that they’ll be standing in the spotlight, most of the time. They love being among people, being positive about life. Though, some find extroverts too much to deal with. You should always stay yourself! However, it wouldn’t hurt anyone to be a tiny bit calmer, when being close to others.

Introvert

So, does that mean that introvert people are the exact opposite of the extroverts? So, not social, friendly and positive? Absolutely not! They’re social as well, but they need to recharge after attending a social event. They like to observe and are amazing listeners. The biggest mistake others make, is seeing introverts as shy people. But the real deal is this: they think before they speak, are careful and need time to get used to things. They’re really social within small groups, such as with their best friends. Fun to know: in countries such as Scandinavia and Japan, most people are introverts!

Ambivert

What if you’re not an introvert, but also can’t recognize yourself in the extrovert description? Is there something in between? Yes, there is! It’s called an ambivert. These people are both outgoing and ‘lone wolves’, owning characteristics of both an introvert and extrovert. This causes the problem that people don’t really understand them that well. A person is either an extrovert or an introvert, is what they think. However, an ambivert person can be both ‘present’ in company or not wanting to be in the spotlight. They enjoy going out for the night, but also enjoy staying in. And they’re amazing in both listening and talking. They’re known for their emotional stability and adaptability. Oh, and their indecision.

Which one are you?
