Game review: The Wolf Among Us

I love gaming and started playing The Wolf Among Us yesterday. It’s a game based on a comic named Fables. I bet you all know the fairy tales from the Grimm Brothers. Well, they pass by in the game. Some of them. So, shall we take a look at how you play this game?

The Wolf Among Us is an action adventure game, consisting of 5 episodes. You take on the role of Bigby Wolf, the sheriff of Fabletown. You’ll discover that a brutal murder is just a taste of the decisions he has to make, with major consequences. It’s not only about what you decide, but also when you choose something.

Every choice you make, has consequences for the outcome of the story. Do you interrogate as a big angry wolf, or do you remain pretty nice to those you suspect? It’s all on you. In the image above, you can see how choosing works within the game.

While playing, you move around and interact with objects to find out more about the murder that has happened. You try to discover the truth by talking with suspects and investigating crime scenes. You also have access to an inventory of objects you collect along the way. They might be helpful to discover the truth.

You fight a lot in this game. After all, you’re a wolf. You try to ‘protect’ people and if you choose to, you try to discover the truth by using violence. In the image above, you can see a red circle. If you act quickly, before the time runs out, you’ll be able to throw the man, if you use either R2 or L2. But be quick! Time events can be tricky and you can get hurt when you miss them.

The white circles are the things you can interact with in a scene. It either causes Bigby to make a comment about it, to pick something up, to interrogate someone with what he discovers or to open doors for example.

You’ll see this screen at the end of every episode. It tells you what the percentage of players was, that made the same important choice as you did. While playing, you collect entries for the Book of Fables to learn more about the characters and their stories.

I shall give The Wolf Among us, 4 out of 5 stars!

Have you played the game?
